Who We Are
NCGives is a statewide organization on a mission to celebrate and strengthen the giving of time, talent and treasure in North Carolina — particularly among women, young people and communities of color.
Founded in 2004 through a generous grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, NCGives began by working with several partners to infuse a strong culture of giving into many of our state's communities (through giving circles and other similar strategies). Now, we're looking at innovative ways to help even more of you build a culture of giving in your community! Please see "How We Work" below for more details.

How We Work
NCGives is growing up! During 2010, we are transitioning to a new operational model that will allow us to better serve the people and communities of North Carolina. Up to this point, much of our work to build a statewide culture of giving has been more behind-the-scenes…and so we’re excited to share that beginning next year (2011), NCGives will be introducing several innovative resources that can help you build a culture of giving in your community.
- Get inspired by a screening of North Carolina Giving: Philanthropy Across Cultures & Communities. We produced this documentary to show how ordinary folks are doing extraordinary things, all over the state. To find out about upcoming screenings, check out our Events page. To set up a screening in your area, email Arlene at arlene.ugbaja@ncgives.org.

- Help your local high school students become strong givers through the NC Youth Giving Network. This statewide network, founded by NCGives, has seen more than 750 hundred students volunteer 40,000-plus hours and bring over $300,000 to youth-related causes.
- Become an informed North Carolina giver through our website (www.ncgives.org) and original research. The NCGives website is updated weekly with current events, inspiring stories and useful tools related to giving in North Carolina and beyond. We also annually release two reports on philanthropy in our state, Foundation Giving (data on NC’s private and community foundations), and Trends in Charitable Giving (data on individual giving in NC).
Keep up to date on all things NCGives.
