7 chances in 7 days to catch NCGives on TV!

Over the next week, several stories from NCGives and our documentary project will be shown on UNC-TV, leading up to the documentary premiere next Monday at 10pm.

Here's a preview:

Tuesday, Nov. 3 (Today)
TV Show: North Carolina NOW (7:30pm, UNC-TV)
Focus: "North Carolina Giving: American Indians and Giving" (except from the documentary)

Beginning of a four-part NC NOW series that focuses on philanthropy in North Carolina. Haliwa Saponi students are building a greenhouse for traditional plants; Stephanie Richardson is a volunteer firefighter in Hollister.  

Wednesday, Nov. 4
TV Show: North Carolina NOW (7:30pm, UNC-TV)
Focus: "North Carolina Giving:  Women and Giving" (except from the documentary)

Part two of NC NOW's series on philanthropy.  Meet Janie Lucas, Mildred Braxton and Sarah DeBerry, three retired teachers in Fayetteville who have made their community stronger with after-school programs for children.

Thursday, Nov. 5
TV Show: North Carolina NOW (7:30pm, UNC-TV)
Focus: "North Carolina Giving: Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders" (except from the documentary)

Part three of NC NOW's series on philanthropy. In Charlotte, Dr. Ki-Hyun Chun and his wire, Sunny, have built the largest Asian library in the southeast. And in Fayetteville, the annual International Folk Festival depends on volunteers like Gloria Canonizado, Vilma Jose and Fiante Kui Rivera.

Friday, Nov. 6
TV Show: North Carolina People (9pm, UNC-TV)

Hosted by Mr. Bill Friday; this week his guest will be our own Donna Chavis, executive director for NCGives.

Sunday, Nov. 8
TV Show: Repeat of North Carolina People (5:30pm, UNC-TV)

If you don't catch Donna's interview on Friday night, you have a second chance Sunday night!

Monday, Nov. 9, earlier evening
TV Show: North Carolina NOW (7:30pm, UNC-TV)
Focus: "North Carolina Giving: Young People and Giving" (except from the documentary)

Final part of NC NOW's four-part series on philanthropy.  The Youth Giving Network brings teenagers together from all corners of NC; in Raleigh, young professionals have organized their philanthropy as a way to have fun after work.

Monday, Nov. 9. later evening
Special broadcast ~ North Carolina Giving: Philanthropy Across Cultures & Communities
10pm, UNC-TV

You won't want to miss NCGives' powerful one-hour documentary as it uncovers inspiring stories of giving in 13 different North Carolina communities.
