Free Screening of Made In L.A. Documentary

The Emmy-nominated documentary Made In L.A. (Hecho en Los Ángeles) will be featured as part of the annual conference of NCGives partner Community Investment Network. Along with this free screening, CIN is also hosting a personal dialogue with its filmmakers, Almudena Carracedo and Robert Bahar.

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Univision 40 will be recognizing Hispanic leaders that have become an example of excellence and perseverance in the community through their program, Orgullo de Nuestra Comunidad ("Pride Of Our Community").

Four Hispanic leaders will be recognized on-air during Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 — October 12) and will be awarded at a ceremony in October.

Asked to Volunteer Time, People Give Money

When asked to volunteer their time to charity, Americans are likely to give more money.

Participants in an online survey read a statement about lung cancer and a cancer research foundation's mission. The participants who were asked to donate time eventually pledged more than those who weren't asked: $36.44 versus $24.46.

In the second test, the same researchers introduced undergraduate college students to HopeLab, a nonprofit organization that serves children with chronic illnesses. The average donation level was nearly five times higher for participants who were first asked about donating their time to the organization. Read more
