“Last-minute recruit gets Women’s Giving Circle a bonus” (from the Fayetteville Observer)

For the Women's Giving Circle of Fayetteville, one last-minute recruit led to a lot of money.

The group of women who pool their money to help the needy welcomed its 100th member on New Year's Eve. Their reward: a doubling of their available funds through the Cumberland Community Foundation.

TV Show: North Carolina NOW (7:30pm, UNC-TV)
Focus: "North Carolina Giving: American Indians and Giving" (except from the documentary)

Beginning of a four-part NC NOW series that focuses on philanthropy in North Carolina. Haliwa Saponi students are building a greenhouse for traditional plants; Stephanie Richardson is a volunteer firefighter in Hollister.

NCGives’ Donna Chavis featured in leadership book

NCGives' own executive director, Donna Chavis, was one of 35 North Carolina leaders chosen to be interviewed for the recently released coffee table book, Secrets of Success: North Carolina Values-Based Leadership. Other North Carolinians profiled in the book include former Governor Jim Hunt, Franklin Graham, the late Kay Yow and Richard Petty.
