Over the next week, several stories from NCGives and our documentary project will be shown on UNC-TV, leading up to the documentary premiere next Monday at 10pm.
Here's a preview:
Tuesday, Nov. 3 (Today)
TV Show: North Carolina NOW (7:30pm, UNC-TV)
Focus: "North Carolina Giving: American Indians and Giving" (except from the documentary)
Beginning of a four-part NC NOW series that focuses on philanthropy in North Carolina. Haliwa Saponi students are building a greenhouse for traditional plants; Stephanie Richardson is a volunteer firefighter in Hollister.

“Obama and elder Bush team up on call to service” (from NPR)

President Barack Obama, who has called on Americans to perform more community service, is joining former President George H.W. Bush in urging citizens to volunteer.
Bush on Friday was to host a forum on volunteering at Texas A&M University, to be attended by Obama, who initiated a "United We Serve" call to service in June that culminated in a national day of service on the eighth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

For Karen Williams, it comes in forms of bodies twisting and stretching into exotic-sounding postures -- for good causes.
Williams owns Yoga For Life, a studio on Morehead Street...Since March, she's held benefits there on the first and third Fridays to raise money for a different cash-strapped charity.
