November 11, 2010

This week last year, our documentary North Carolina Giving: Philanthropy Across Cultures & Communities made its first appearance on television (UNC-TV, 11/9/2009). To celebrate, we're going to give away a $100 donation to one winner's charity of choice! Five second-place winners will receive a copy of the North Carolina Giving DVD.

Be a champion for your favorite charity ~ submit your story and you could help them win $100!

North Carolina Giving Anniversary Contest: How to Enter

  • Write a 250 to 500-word essay on what “giving” means to you, and how it has impacted your life. You can describe this broadly (over the course of your life), or you can tell the story of one specific incident that really moved or inspired you.
  • Email your submission (one per person) to melinda.pearce@ncgives.org, with the subject "Essay Contest Submission."
  • Deadline for entries is Monday, November 29. (Note: The deadline was originally the day after Thanksgiving, but we've moved it to the Monday after Thanksgiving.)
  • We prefer you write your essay in the body of the email, though we'll accept attached MS Word documents as well. (Don't send PDF's, please.)
  • Winners will be chosen by NCGives staff and notified starting Wednesday, December 1. All written entries become the property of NCGives and may be used on our website or in other ways - please see the Contest Rules for complete details.
