Through the North Carolina Youth Giving Network, NCGives has helped more than 20 youth giving sites get started around the state. We're excited to share that a former student from one site, Youth Grantmakers in Action in Winston-Salem, has recently become a summer associate with the Council on Foundations.
Brittany Jenkins, a rising senior at UNC-Chapel Hill, pointed to her time with YGA as sparking her passion for philanthopy.
"As I look at community foundation websites and read about the work of youth philanthropy groups," Brittany says, "I realize youth philanthropy is important not only for assessing the needs of youth in the community but for fostering the next generation of philanthropy."
What is your foundation doing to encourage the future generation of philanthropists?
She hopes to one day work for a community foundation, and has a question for foundations everywhere:
"What is your foundation doing to encourage the future generation of philanthropists?"
You can read more about the early days of Brittany's giving journey on the Philanthropy Journal.
