Local Giving Circles Are Expanding, Publishing

In Stores October

Two North Carolina giving circles we supported in their early days, NGAAP-Charlotte and the (formerly) Women's Giving Circle of Fayetteville, are stepping it up.

NGAAP-Charlotte (New Generation of African American Philanthropists) has published a coffee table book sharing "evocative narratives from the lives of average African Americans." Giving Back, written by Valaida Fullwood with photography by Charles W. Thomas, Jr., will be in stores in October. (Can't wait? You can pre-purchase the volume on Amazon.)

And over in the southeastern corner of the state, a local women's giving circle has decided to stretch their arms a bit further. The Women’s Giving Circle of Fayetteville has officially changed their name to the Women’s Giving Circle of Cumberland County, enabling the Circle to better serve the entire county through grant opportunities, as well as to open membership to all women across the county.

Founded in 2008, the Circle is an organization of more than 130 women whose purpose is to impact substantial, positive change for women and children in Cumberland County. Funds are held and maintained by the Cumberland Community Foundation.

Over the past three years, the Women’s Giving Circle has awarded a total of $125,340 to Cumberland County nonprofits to benefit women and children.  For more information about the organization and membership, please visit www.cumberlandcf.org or call (910) 483-4449.
