August 17, 2009

"Grown-ups build so kids can play" (from the News & Observer)

Triangle-area residents are banding together their time, talent and treasure for local children by developing community playgrounds.

"Giving circles pool money to make a bigger difference for charity" (from the Dallas Morning News)

Though it specifically highlights Texas giving circles, this article is a good review of how giving circles are coming about and flourishing as an innovative way to give.

"1 black dress, 365 days" (from the News & Observer)

Creative giving: Indian-American Sheena Matheiken has pledged to wear one dress for a year as an exercise in sustainable fashion...and as an education-focused fundraiser supporting children in Indian slums.
